What Warranties Come With a New Kia?
A new Kia warranty is separated into four limited coverage plans bundled into the same program. These include a 5-year/60,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty1, a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty2, a 5-year/100,000-mile Limited Anti-Perforation Warranty3, and 5-year/60,000-mile Roadside Assistance4.
What Does the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Cover?
All new Kia vehicles come with the New Vehicle Limited Warranty1 covering all vehicle parts against factory defects or manufacturer-related damages, excluding certain wear-and-tear items like air and fluid filters and spark plugs. The air conditioning refrigerant is covered for the first year regardless of mileage, and the battery and entertainment system elements are covered for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
What Does the Powertrain Limited Warranty Cover?
The 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty2 covers a wide range of factors. In the engine, this includes the cylinder block, cylinder head and all internal parts, timing gear, seals and gaskets, valve cover, flywheel, oil pump, water pump, and turbocharger. Transaxle coverage includes drive shafts, bearings, seals and gaskets, front hubs, and universal joints. The warranty also extends to axle shafts and C-V joints, as well as front and rear differential assemblies and all their internal parts.
Is the 10-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty for All Owners?
No. The entire 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty2 is only for the first owner. If the vehicle is sold, the powertrain coverage drops to five years or 60,000 miles for subsequent owners, unless it's a Kia Certified Pre-Owned, or CPO, vehicle.
Is the Kia Warranty Transferable?
Yes, but the full Powertrain Limited Warranty2 transfers only to certified pre-owned Kia vehicles. CPO vehicles must be six years or newer, have 80,000 miles or fewer on the odometer, and have passed a multi-point inspection. If a CPO vehicle is still under warranty, that coverage continues for the length of the original term.
Does Kia Offer Warranty Coverage for EVs and Hybrids?
Yes. Kia's EV System Warranty5 covers key electric drivetrain parts including the electric motor, high voltage battery, electric power control unit, and on-board charger for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Battery capacity loss below 70 percent of the original capacity is also covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles with the EV Battery Coverage6 package.
What Does the Limited Anti-Perforation Warranty Cover?
The Limited Anti-Perforation Warranty3 covers rust-through situations for five years or 100,000 miles, but excludes rust or corrosion damage that doesn't result in perforation, such as damage typically caused by hail, stones, sand, and salt on drives across Route 281.
What Roadside Assistance Is Included?
Kia's 5-year/60,000-mile Roadside Assistance4 covers towing to the nearest authorized Kia dealer like us or an alternative service location in the event of a warranty-related breakdown, along with other services like flat tire assistance and jump-starts. Our Service Department can assist with these services when you’re on your way to Elmendorf Lake Park.
What if My Car Needs Repairs When I’m Far From Home?
If your vehicle needs more than 24 hours to repair and you're more than 150 miles from home, Kia's Trip Interruption Policy7 can cover lodging, rental car costs, or meals up to a certain amount as reasonable reimbursement for the inconvenience.
